this week in snoots
the house has descended into noodle-y chaos, akin to a wild bowl of spaghetti
This past week has been noodle-y, to say the least. We recently opened our home to two hot new bombshells, Annie and Bambi, silken windhound sisters from Chicago. We are watching them for two weeks and have successfully made it through week one with all pasta friends fully intact.
A little background on how we ended up in this noodle-y situation: Cleo and Annie go WAY BACK; they are half sisters who were reunited at the ages of one (Annie) and two (Cleo). Annie’s human and I used to frequent the Milwaukee River with the girls so that they could regale their childhood together—that was three years ago. And the girls are definitely showing signs; Cleo and Annie have a lot more white on their faces, and truly it is a crime. Bambi is a new addition to Annie's household, and we were excited to have the opportunity to get to know her (Annie and Bambi’s moms recently moved to Chicago, so we never get to see them and are VERY SAD ABOUT IT).
So now that you have the lowdown, you might be wondering, how is Abby faring with all of these thin lips in her home? And I’m sure you already know the answer: she do be crying over here. Her original plan was to ignore them—if she ignores them, they don’t exist, and she could move on with her life. But that proved to be extremely difficult, as everywhere Abby went, they followed; everything she ate, they wanted; every pet she DESERVED, they stole. This week has truly been a test of Abby’s patience, and she has reached sainthood with the tolerance she has displayed.
You might be saying, "Why would you do this to Abby? You know Abby dislikes thin lips vehemently." Although Abby dislikes thin lips, I happen to LOVE THEM and have always wanted a little tricolor pasta of my own. This has been a wonderful trial run and a practice in realizing we are not equipped for four dogs.
We’ve fallen into a schedule of walking the entire pasta horde once a day, to our neighbors' absolute delight. Neighbors who we have never spoken to have come out of the woodwork to comment, “Did you get two new dogs?” To which we laugh and say, “No, we’re not that insane. I know we own Abby, but come on.”
To remind Cleo and Abby that we love them and it will only be them for us, I’ve taken them on a few solo trips. Abby got to go to the beach all by herself, Cleo got to go on a rainy hike (which was honestly not great, and Abby laughed at Cleo coming home soaked), and then a solo double trip to the dog park. So far, Abby’s trip to the beach has been documented in a YouTube video; currently working on recapping the solo double trip, stay tuned.
Here’s to surviving another week of noodle madness 🙌🍝

"Own" Abby? Just wow. Tempt fate much? 😂🤦🏼♀️
